Following our highly acclaimed spring performance of "Ladies Day", the Fordingbridge Players are pleased to be presenting "Crime and Prejudice" as our offering for autumn 2023. These 2 one act productions will take our audience firstly into the dark mind of a compulsive serial killer, and then into the light of a village book club, as they discuss their latest book choice, Pride and Prejudice.
These two juxtaposed plays will be performed at the Burgate School drama studio, Fordingbridge, on 26th to 28th October 2023 at 7.30pm.
Written by Tony Domaille, who writes several different kinds of plays and sketches for Lazy Bee Scripts, "Even Numbers" was the winner of 4 awards at the Bristol One Act Festival 2023, winner of UK SDFF Geoffrey Whitworth Award for Best Original Script 2023 and the winner of the Derek Jacobi Award for New Writing 2023. It is a thriller with strongly written dialogue, and tells the story of Mary-Ann, who has poisoned and killed 5 people, as psychologist Dr Vincent tries to assess if she is insane or just plain evil…but then a shocking truth is discovered….
"The Book Club of Little Witterington" was written by Joan Greening, and its performance by Edinburgh People's Theatre won the Edinburgh division of the SCDA one-act festival 2023 and went on to win the Best Comedy award in the one-act play festival. In this funny play, we meet the ladies of the book club, who have known each other since school, and they are wary of letting newcomer to the village, Paula, join the club. However, there is more to Paula than first impressions show, but does she have what it takes to get round the very snobby Belle?
These amateur productions are presented by special arrangement with Lazy Bee Scripts.
