You’ll find a stunning selection of gardens in Hampshire. The county’s gardens are associated with some of the great names in gardening history, from the Rothschilds' azaleas, rhododendrons and camellias at Exbury Gardens to the prized collections of the Sir Harold Hillier Gardens near Romsey.

At Exbury you can smell the heady aromas and see the stunning colours of these glorious flowers as they burst into bloom in spring. At other times of the year you can explore Exbury’s many attractions, including its miniature steam railway, tree-lined walks, adventure playground and spectacular views of the Beaulieu River.

At the Sir Harold Hillier Gardens you’ll discover amazing displays of different plants and habitats, including a Bog Garden, Winter Garden, Heather Garden, Hydrangea Walk, Himalayan Valley and Acer Valley. There are art exhibitions, concerts, guided walks and children’s activities throughout the year and little ones will adore the exciting tree house.

Another famous garden in Hampshire is Mottisfont Abbey, near Romsey. People flock to Mottisfont every summer to see its stunning rose garden, where you can delight the senses with an amazing variety of wonderfully perfumed roses in a range of vibrant colours and delicate hues. There’s also a winter garden at Mottisfont, as well as a riverside walk which takes you on a tranquil and tree-lined stroll along the banks of the River Test.

For more gardens in Hampshire, Queen Eleanor's Garden at the Great Hall in Winchester is a charming re-creation of a medieval herbarium sanctuary.

The Vyne near Basingstoke has 13 acres of relaxing gardens and parkland to enjoy along with five centuries of history.

West Green House Gardens near Hartley Wintney is a historic garden with contemporary flair created by acclaimed Australian garden designer Marylyn Abbott. Also known as The Opera Garden, referring to its creator’s combined passions for English gardens and international opera, the gardens are renowned for their theatricality. The terraced Theatre Lawn plays host to a notable summer outdoor opera season.

Many gardens in Hampshire have cafes and tea rooms where you can treat yourself to delicious snacks, cakes and home-cooked food.
