About
A visit to Exbury's breathtaking Palais des Vaches Art Gallery blends extraordinary work by top Hampshire artists with delicious pop-up dining from incredible local chefs.
Located on the banks of the Beaulieu River around a mile and a half from the world famous Exbury Gardens, the stunning gallery comprises three inter-joining rooms that wrap around a beautiful courtyard garden featuring magnificent sculptures.
Whatever the weather, a visit to the Palais des Vaches will brighten your day as you wander amongst our ever-changing exhibition mounted in collaboration with Lymington's Coastal Gallery.
The colourful showcase is packed full of vibrant work by top local and national creatives including paintings, prints, ceramics and sculptures, curated to appeal to all tastes and budgets. The exhibition also includes a range of beautiful prints, books, and curiosities on sale in our Chez Moo shop.
Also available as a private hire venue for weddings and celebrations, The Palais des Vaches was lovingly transformed by Exbury Garden’s president Nick de Rothschild, and his wife, Caroline.
Starting with the magnificent milking parlour, affectionately named the ‘Cow Palace’, and built by Nick’s Grandfather, Lionel de Rothschild, a century ago, Nick and Caroline worked with a team of local builders, artisans, and craftspeople to restore the buildings to “more than their former glory.” It opened as a stunning art gallery in 2021.
The walls of the Palais now feature a collection of works by celebrated and lesser-known local artists, sculptors and ceramicists, along with a host of fantastic sculptures both inside and out. The venue is located at the end of a long gravel track, with magnificent views over the to the Isle of Wight.
So take a trip to Exbury to see work by over 40 local and nationally renowned artists including Andy Baerselman, Stewart Beckett, Jill Berelowitz, Martyn Brewster, Julie Collins, Jackie Giron, John Ilsley, Long Ly, William Pounds, Kim Thompson, Michael Turner, Chris Whittaker, Claire Wiltsher, and venue owners, Caroline and Nick de Rothschild.
