This stunning thatched cottage dates back to 1750 and retains oodles of old-world charm with low slung ceilings, exposed beams, wonky walls and lots of original features. In juxtaposition, the owners have recently refurbished the cottage adding a substantial barn-style contemporary kitchen, dining and living area.

Warm woods, squishy sofas along with a lofty gabled ceiling and bountiful glazing makes for a bright, characterful space for friends and families to gather. Entertainment comes in the form of a Smart TV/DVD Player and Bluetooth Sound Bar, plus a large dining table and chairs to gather around for board games, late-night natters or planning what to do the next day.

Keen cooks will love whizzing up a meal in the snazzy kitchen, which comes with an induction hob, wine fridge and Nespresso coffee maker – handy for a morning cuppa to sit and sip on the sun terrace listening to the birds.

If open plan living isn’t for all your guests, there’s a cosy snug with an electric log burner to hideaway, relaxed and undisturbed. Other rooms downstairs include a utility room with a handy washer/dryer and a separate shower room. A ground-floor master double bedroom has an ensuite shower room, dressing room, and a feature slipper bath – which is great for multigenerational families and guests with limited mobility. The first floor is home to yet another little seating area, this time with a sofa, desk and chair. Plus two further beautifully styled bedrooms – a twin and double.

Located in the village of Bashley, guests of Kingscliffe Cottage have plenty of options for good eating pubs and restaurants close by. There are two superb farm shops within a couple of miles, plus supermarkets and high street stores in New Milton and Christchurch. The open heathlands and woods of the New Forest are a short walk away or jump in the car for ten minutes, and you’ll be on the soft, golden sand of Highcliffe and Avon beaches.
