About
The Mary Rose invite you to join them for their Anniversary Lectures! The one day event will take place on Saturday 13th October and is open to everyone.
This year our speakers list includes:
- Dr Sean Cunningham - Head of Medieval Records at The National Archives
- Lauren Mackay - Tudor historian and author of Among The Wolves of Court: The Untold Story of Thomas and George Boleyn
- Dr Jane Malcolm-Davies - The Tudor Tailor and historical clothing expert
- Dr Dominic Fontana - Historical Geographer with over 35 years of involvement with the Mary Rose Trust
- Hayley Simon - PhD student 'Going ballistic!' with our cannonball conservation project
Tickets: The ticket price includes lunch and refreshments, as well as the opportunity to visit The Mary Rose at the end of the day. The Mary Rose apologise but they are unable to offer a concessions price. (If you have any dietary requirements, please contact K.Shuttleworth@maryrose.org)
Venue: This year the lectures are being hosted in the Portland Building at the University of Portsmouth (Portland St, Portsmouth PO1 3AH).
Parking and transport: There is a University car park near the venue, however they cannot guarantee spaces as there are other events going on that day. The Mary Rose advise using alternative car parks in the area (e.g. Portsmouth Historic Dockyard or Gunwharf). If you are using public transport the venue is a 10 minute walk from Portsmouth Harbour train and bus station.
Seating: The lectures will be taking place in a tiered lecture theatre but there are wheelchair spaces available, which can be reserved with the wheelchair space ticket. Any guests accompanying a wheelchair user will need to buy a tiered seat ticket.
