An action packed day of Motorcycle Grasstrack racing, an event suitable for all the family will take place at Whaddon Farm, Owslebury on Sunday 23rd July where racers will travel from all over the country to compete for The Southern Championships.
Some of the very best off-road motorcycle racers will clash in a day of spectacular racing that will include three-wheeled sidecar racing as well. Akin to motorcycle speedway, Grasstrack racing takes place on an oval circuit on motorcycle machines designed to withstand the punishment faced by racing at breakneck speed across grass, dirt, stones and bumps. Up to ten competitors lineup to bang handlebars for four high-adrenalin laps of the race circuit. Perhaps the most mind-blowing of all is the fact that the competitors do it with no brakes!
As well as the more traditional two wheeled machines, sidecar classes are included. These sidecars involve two riders (a driver and a passenger) working as a team to wrestle the 1000cc, 170 bhp monsters around the off-road circuit, whilst trying not to collide with their rivals.
The event is a real festival of all that is Grasstrack. As well as the on-track action, several stalls, food and drink facilities, beer tents will ensure that a great day is had by all. The on-track action will begin at 11am with official practice. The first of forty action-packed races will commence at 12.30pm prompt, with the finals (where the champions will be decided) will be held at approximately 4.30pm.
Entry to the venue will be £15 for adults £13 for concession and under 16's can enter for free! (Must be accompanied by an adult) and the souvenir race day magazine is £2 Cash and card are available on the entry gate. we do not take advance bookings so just simply turn up on the day to pay. Limited Disabled & trackside parking is available.
The venue will be signposted from Junction 11 of the M3 and the B2177 Bishops Waltham Road (Follow the Brown signs to Marwell Zoo) The postcode for Sat Nav users is SO21 1JJ.
For anyone wishing to camp, there will be free weekend camping available from Midday 22nd July - Midday 24th July (No running water or wash facilities on site)
