About
Butser Ancient Farm, nestled within the South Downs National Park, is a wonderful outdoor space showcasing Ancient Britain through experimental archaeology. You can visit Stone Age, Iron Age, Roman and Anglo-Saxon reconstructed buildings, see ancient breeds of animals and have a go at ancient skills.
Enjoy a drink on the veranda of the eco visitor centre or bring a picnic to share in the tranquil setting of times gone by. Why not step back in time to celebrate one of the ancient festivals such as Beltane (the burning of the wickerman), Samhain (ancient Halloween) or the Tales of Winter Magic? There is something for all the family to enjoy, be it for a regular visit or a special event.
Butser Ancient Farm also hosts a variety of adult workshops teaching traditional skills surrounded by 5000 years of human history.
The site is fully wheelchair accessible and welcomes dogs on leads.
