Festival of the Moon at Winchester Cathedral
The much acclaimed and incredibly Instagrammable Museum of the Moon artwork by artist Luke Jerram will be coming to Hampshire for the first time in 2024 with what promises to be an out-of-this-world installation at Winchester Cathedral in February.
Visitors to Winchester Cathedral will be able to see the moon from 5 to 18 February 2024, and special events include a Moon Medley night of music and dance, a date night evening with a candlelit piano recital, and silent discos under the moon for adults and kids.

New ride to make a splash at Paultons Park
Splash Lagoon, a brand-new mini log flume ride, will be splashing into the Lost Kingdom at Paultons Park in 2024.
Splash Lagoon is a Jurassic water boat adventure for junior thrill-seekers, within the dinosaur-themed Lost Kingdom at Paultons Park. The new mini flume ride will take visitors through gentle rapids to discover new species of dinosaur, ending with a descent into the prehistoric lagoon below.
Splash Lagoon is expected to open at Paultons Park in May 2024.

Utilita Bowl 2024 cricket internationals
Utilita Bowl near Southampton is a renowned venue for international cricket fixtures and there’s plenty more in 2024 with two all-action IT20s taking place at the home of Hampshire cricket this summer.
England Women face New Zealand on 6 July, before England Men take on Australia at their iT20 match on 11 September.
There’s also the Hampshire Cricket's County Championship, seven Hampshire Hawks Vitality Blast home matches, plus Metro Bank One-Day Cup fixtures to look forward to at The Ageas Bowl in 2024.

2024 new festivals and events in Hampshire
2024 is shaping up to be a bumper year for the events calendar, with popular events returning for the new year and plenty of fresh happenings to look forward to.
New for 2024, the Southampton Summer Sessions festival will see the city’s Guildhall Square transformed into a buzzing live music hub with headline acts Tom Jones, Madness, Kaiser Chiefs, and Nile Rodgers & CHIC performing between 15 and 30 June 2024.
And Britain’s best-loved event for dogs and their owners returns to Hampshire on 1 and 2 June 2024 at the new venue of Burley Park in the New Forest with even more exciting things for the four-legged to see and do.

Special Hampshire anniversaries in 2024
2024 marks the 80th anniversary of D-Day and the Normandy Landings on 6 June 1944. Hampshire was the starting place for many troops travelling to the beaches in Normandy and many locations throughout the county were used as temporary bases before D-Day. The D-Day Story in Portsmouth will be marking the occasion with a host of special events, and further details of the commemorations across the UK will be released in 2024.
The 250-year anniversary of the birth of famed author, and Hampshire resident, Jane Austen is in 2025 but the Austen anticipation will begin in 2024 not least because Jane Austen’s House celebrates its own 75th anniversary in 2024.
