Park up at Butser Hill car park (open 24/7) and watch the sunset from Butser Hill itself. Sitting in the stunning South Downs National Park, your viewpoint commands wide-reaching vistas across the Hampshire and Surrey border.

Lepe beach, The New Forest
Fringing the Solent, Lepe beach offers a peaceful spot to watch the sun dipping across the Solent. Soak up the far-reaching views over to the Isle of Wight with the New Forest behind you.
The park’s car park is open daily until 10pm.

St Giles Hill, Winchester
Take the short but steep walk from Winchester city centre up St Giles Hill. From the top, expect views across the Winchester skyline as you perch upon a bench.
After soaking up the scenes, why not make the descent back into Winchester and finish your evening off at one of the city’s top pubs or restaurants.

Danebury Hillfort, near Middle Wallop
This Iron Age hillfort sits on the outskirts of Middle Wallop and is not only archaeologically but is also an important local nature reserve.
There are two small parking areas. Follow the tracks up to the hillfort for sweeping views of the surrounding chalk downland. While you may get the chance to spot some of the nature you can also watch helicopters and other aircraft coming in to land at nearby Middle Wallop airfield.

Hurst Spit, New Forest
This one-mile-long shingle spit protrudes into the Solent towards the Isle of Wight. Grab yourselves some fish and chips from nearby Milford-on-sea before taking the walk along the spit. Watch the sun setting behind the Hurst Castle lighthouse and don’t forget to bring your camera along to capture the moment!

Join a sunset chasers paddle on the Beaulieu River, New Forest
During the summer months, New Forest Activities runs sunset paddles in kayaks along the Beaulieu River. While away time as you slowly paddle the river.
Suitable for accompanied children aged 12+, this tour lasts two-hours and includes the equipment you need and a guide to help navigate you along the river. Look out for wildlife along the way. You can even bring your four-legged friend along for the paddle.
