Try something new in 2023 and conquer a new challenge in Hampshire with unforgettable experiences and events taking place across the county this year.

From physical challenges to test you to the max, to opportunities for the whole family to learn something new, here is our guide to challenges and adventures to take on in Hampshire during 2023.
 

1. Activate the adrenaline and brave the big seven rollercoasters at Paultons Park.

2. Bounce down to the Inflatable 5K Southampton when the world's biggest inflatable 5K comes to the University of Southampton Sports Ground on 8 and 9 July 2023.

3. Lean back and enjoy the view from the top of the 100 metre high Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth with an unforgettable abseiling experience.

4. Hike all or part of the 100km South Downs Way crossing the South Downs National Park with incredible views of the south coast countryside.

5. Scale the epic climbing wall at Calshot Activities Centre with 1200sqm of climbing, over 250 routes, and a dedicated bouldering wall to challenge your spiderman skills.

6. Ride or Race in the Southampton Sporterium on Saturday 1 April 2023: an exciting day of sportive ride challenges and exhilarating city centre criterium with 60km and 100km distances to choose from.

7. Defend and explore Anglo-Saxon Winchester at 878 AD, the city’s immersive virtual reality experience. But be quick, this attraction is temporary and is only scheduled to be open until end of spring 2023.

8. Make the ultimate splash and overcome the obstacles at the inflatable aqua park at the New Forest Water Park.

9. Go Ape and climb, jump, swing and zip your way through the treetops at Alice Holt ForestMoors Valley Country Park, or Itchen Valley Country Park.

10. Run for the finish line at the ABP Southampton Marathon on 2 April 2023 with 5km, 10km, half marathon or the full marathon to choose from plus a fun run open to all ages.

11. Experiment in science and find out if you’ve got what it takes to become an astronaut at the Winchester Science Centre and Planetarium

12. Explore the New Forest National Park by bike with over 100 miles of waymarked off-road cycling routes for all levels.

13. Have your very own Bake Off at Mr Baker’s Cake School: Fareham’s cooking, baking, and cake decorating academy.

14. No snow? No problem! Go skiing or snowboarding at Calshot Activities Centre in Southampton or the Alpine Snowsports Centre in Aldershot.

15. Harness the wind and try windsurfing, kitesurfing, or wing foiling in one of Hampshire’s top wind watersports spots: Calshot, Lepe, Hill Head, Lee-on-Solent, Stokes Bay, or Hayling Island.

16. Experience the magic of South Asian arts at the Southampton Mela Festival on Saturday 15 July 2023 and join workshops to immersive yourself in the dance, art and music of the event.

17. Paddle out on Hampshire waters with a stand-up paddleboarding adventure along the county’s coastline, waterways or rivers.

18. Try your hand at bushcraft or archery with New Forest Activities or explore the Beaulieu River in an open Canadian-style canoe.

19. Experience the amazing sensation of flying with iFly Indoor Skydiving! In Basingstoke.

20. Take the plunge and scuba or open water swim at Andark Lake – Hampshire’s purpose-built inland diving lake.

21. Lace up your running shoes on 15 October 2023 for the Great South Run in Portsmouth taking in the city’s sights along the 10-mile route. 

22. Take on the track at the UK’s fastest driving circuit: Thruxton Motorsport Centre. Drive a supercar, hone your skills in controlling a sliding car in the fun and safe skid pan, go karting at Thruxton Kart Centre, or learn how to handle a Land Rover at the 4x4 Off-Road Centre.

23. Hop aboard in a world-famous boating destination and sail along Hampshire’s coastline exploring the county’s countless marinas and natural harbours.
