Hurrah! The 2018 Hampshire Food festival is here and we want to share with you some of the top foodie events that shouldn’t be missed.
The Hampshire Food Festival runs every year for one month (1st – 31st July) and includes over 60 different events. From farm visits, vineyard tours, cookery classes, tasting evening, artisan markets and country shows, there is something for everyone. The festival is a unique opportunity to explore Hampshire and discover the people and stories behind the county’s award winning food and drink.
Here’s some of our favourite events happening throughout the festival:
Chocolate Demonstrations and Tasting Open Day with Chocolate Craft
Thursday 12th July
Join Chocolate Craft in Alresford for a chocolate demonstration, delicious tastings and decorate a chocolate lolly (small charge applies).
Forte Kitchen Supper with King Somborne Eggs
Thursday 12th July
A special evening supper at Forte Kitchen in Winchester with their favourite local supplier King Somborne Eggs. Enjoy a special menu featuring the delicious eggs and meet John and Jacky the owners King Somborne Eggs.
Local Produce Dinner with James Durrant at No.5 Bridge Street
Friday 13th July
Executive Chef James Durrant who starred on The Great British Menu and has worked in some of the country’s top restaurants will at No.5 Bridge Street Winchester, creating a show stopping menu using some of the best local produce.
Lavender Fields Open Days
14th and 15th July
A great day out for the whole family! See the lavender and wild flowers in bloom and enjoy tours, tractor rides, cream teas and much more.
The 61st Curdridge Country Show
Saturday 14th July
This country show is a fun day out for all. Enjoy traditional crafts, artisan stalls, a wide range of food and drink plus am area with events and entertainment.
Tasty Tuesday at Winchester Tourist Information Centre
17th, 24th and 31st July
Every Tuesday throughout July sample a taste of Hampshire at Winchester Tourist Information Centre before having the opportunity to stock up on your local produce.
Jamming Sessions with Hampshire Jam Saturday
14th, 21st, 28th and Wednesday 25th July
Join Hampshire Jam and learn how to make traditional chutneys and yummy preserves. Open to beginners or people wishing to improve their skills.
Cherry Orchard Tours and Carry Market at Blackmoor Orchards
Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd July
Spend the day with Blackmoor Orchards, Hampshire’s largest cherry orchards, learning how they grow and harvest their cherries. A cherry market will be onsite throughout the day so you can purchase the delicious cherries to take home.
Vinesyards of Hampshire 6th Annual Wine Festival
Sunday 22nd July
This annual wine festival is this year being held at Raimes Vineyard and is your chance to sample some Hampshire wines, taste Hampshire produce, meet the winemakers and take part in workshops and tours of the vineyard.
New Forest and Hampshire County Show
24th, 25th and 26th July
The New Forest and Hampshire County Show is a great day out for all the family. There’ll be 200+ trade stands, a food hall, live cooking demonstrations, local produce, baking competitions plus much, much more.
Butcher it, Cook it, Eat it at Newlyn Farmshop
Saturday 28th July
Spend the day with Newlyn’s Head Butcher, Jason, who will demonstrate the butchering of a lamb, pig and chicken. Once Jason has passed his knowledge on it will be your turn to practice your newly learned skills.
