About
Four Winds is located in Alresford which is 5 miles from Winchester City centre with a fast train to London taking only 50 minutes. The property is located half a mile from the town centre on a quiet tree lined street. The Watercress Line starts from up the road. A stop on the Mid-Hants railway, a historical railway line, it stretches 10 miles from Alresford to Alton where it connects to National Rail services. Special events such as dining trains, real ale events and family education visits are organised throughout the year. The line was initially created to transport the watercress, which Hampshire is famous for, to be sold in the great markets of London - which is where the fond nickname 'The Watercress Line' was born.
Alresford with its specialist shops selling antiques, gifts, food, clothes, antiquarian books, artwork, china and crafts provides a year round attraction. Moda Rosa is a boutique that specialises in bringing designer clothes outside London and would be the perfect place to pick up a special outfit. There are plenty of places to put your feet up once you've shopped to your heart's content.
Alresford offers a wealth of riverside walks which will take you from the town into the countryside to Alresford pond. The Millennium Trail links footpaths around the town and surrounding countryside and allows you to keep an eye out for the local wildlife, you could see wild otters and an array of birds. The walks can be tailored to be from one mile and up so it really can be done by the whole family. After your walk is done lunch can be enjoyed at The Globe, a beautiful pub with an expansive garden. The menu is seasonal and constantly changing - a perfect place to refuel!
