Abbotstone Wood campsite is the perfect combination of wide open spaces and shady glades deep in the ancient woods. Fed up with the city life, Abbotstone first opened the campsite at Forgewood on the Eridge Park estate in 2009. Offering a chance to camp in open countryside with a campfire and a minimum of rules and regulations, a simply kind of camping.
For those that have not visited, you approach through the woods, before coming into an open meadow. This offers camping close to the facilities, and is surrounded by trees. Past the reception area it opens out to a large rolling meadow with fantastic views.
Then there are the woodland pitches. Some great open glades or those mysterious but delightful little spaces between the trees.
Sensible Campfires are encouraged, as are sensible dogs. Likewise, the site have wood for your fires and lovely campfire grills plus the essentials from Campstores including a coffee in the morning.
If you want to do a little Bushcraft there are two hour sessions on Saturday afternoon.
