About
Spitfires, Tanks and Landing Craft Tanks have all inspired the Easter Holiday family activities at The D-Day Story.
The museum will host drop-in craft sessions on the Tuesdays (Spitfires), Wednesdays (Tanks) and Thursdays (Landing Craft Tanks) during the Easter holidays - where you can make a mini Spitfire, Tank or Landing Craft Tank to take home.
Activities are designed with 5 to 11-year-olds in mind but all ages are welcome to take part!
Spitfires
2 and 9 April
11am - 3pm
Spitfires played a major role on and after D-Day by protecting Allied forces from attack. Did you know that black and white 'invasion stripes' were painted onto the aircraft just before D-Day to help Allied troops recognise their own aircraft. Drop into this family friendly craft activity and design and create your own mini Spitfire to take home.
Tanks
3 and 10 April
11am - 3pm
Tanks played a vital role during the Second World War. Drop into this family friendly craft activity and make your own mini tank to take home. Why not take inspiration from the Beach Armoured Recovery Vehicle and Churchill and Sherman tanks all on display at the museum?
Landing Craft Tanks
4 and 11 April
11am - 3pm
Did you know that LCT 7074 is the last surviving Craft Tank (LCT) from D-Day, and it played a vital role in transporting men and supplies across the English Channel? Drop into this family friendly craft activity to make your own mini-Landing Craft Tank or Landing Craft Vehicle and Personnel (LCVP) to take home. Explore the museum to find out more about LCT 7074 and the role of the LCVP during the Normandy Landings.
All activities are included in the museum ticket price.
