In 1998, The Queen appointed Alastair as one of her Officers of Arms, and later in 2004, Alastair was appointed to be an Extra Equerry to Their Royal Highnesses the Earl and Countess of Wessex. In 2010 and Alastair was given an OBE in The Queen’s Birthday Honours List.
Alastair Bruce is the Royal, Constitutional and Religious Commentator for Sky News; he was appointed back in 1994 and has covered all Britain’s momentous occasions, including the recent funeral of The Duke of Edinburgh, wedding of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, The Queen’s Jubilees and the funerals of both the Queen Mother and Diana, Princess of Wales.
Alastair was granted the privilege of a unique televised ‘conversation’ with The Queen for his BBC1 film Coronation, about the crowns and crowning of 1953.
He presents a number of documentaries for ABC America, Sky TV and PBS and he’s also written many books, including Days of Majesty, Keepers of the Kingdom and The Oldest. The Queen’s Birthday Parade was published recently, with a foreword by The Duke of Edinburgh. He has worked with many independent production companies in the preparation of TV documentaries; among these are Manners of Downton Abbey, Nicholas and Alexandra, Victoria and Albert and Days of Majesty.
