The ultimate week-long cinematic experience at Showcase Cinema de Lux Southampton.
From Friday 9th June, Showcase Cinema de Lux, Westquay will offer a week-long celebration of arts, film and music with over 30 unique events and screenings demonstrating the breadth of the cinema's offering throughout the year.
To celebrate film classics, Showcase will give fans a Saturday late night screening of the iconic Jaws. A restored 4K print of Woody Allen's Manhattan will be shown with a special introduction by Dr Shelley Cobb, the associate director of English & Film at the University of Southampton, and Will Ferrell will be making his way back to the big screen for a screening of Anchorman, where guests will be given a free moustache to channel their inner Ron Burgundy.
Music lovers will have an array of events to choose from, including Take That's Wonderland Live concert broadcast directly to the cinema from the O2 in London and Whitney: Can I Be Me, which will feature a live via satellite performance by powerhouse singer and runner up of The Voice, Michelle John.
Parents and toddlers will be treated to screenings of the new 60-minute film Bob the Builder: Mega Machine that sees Bob, Scoop, Muck & Lofty embark on their biggest build ever. Fireman Sam will be at the cinema on Sunday morning to greet his fans before they watch Fireman Sam: Alien Alert, featuring the voice of David Tennant. These screenings will be accompanied by fun in the foyer where children can play with the latest Fireman Sam toy range before and after each show.
Cinemagoers will also have the opportunity to watch opera, ballet, documentaries and theatre plays from some of the finest cultural institutions in the world. The Bolshoi's stunning Swan Lake and the Australian Ballet's Coppelia are sure to enthral dance fans. Theatre buffs will be treated to screenings of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, starring Imelda Staunton, the National Theatre's celebrated Peter Pan, and Simon Russell Beale's commanding performance in The Tempest.
