Longhope Opera is a delightful day out. Guests take walks around the gardens and enjoy secluded chamber music recitals. A drinks reception follows at which old friends are reunited and new friendships made (with audiences capped at 400, we can retain a personal touch!) Longhope celebrates the Italian Bel Canto tradition of opera, staging fast-paced, hilarious and characterful works which perfectly compliment the style and agility of young singers. Hampers are demolished during an extended dining interval, with tables overlooking the South Downs.

Having wowed thousands of guests since 2018, Scherzo Ensemble return with their fourth production. These operas at Longhope have become the centre-piece of their annual professional development programme for young artists.This summer, we warmly invite you to a performance of L'elisir d'amore by Donizetti, on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd of July, 2022.
