About
We are delighted to be hosting this annual fun ride again around our magnificent historic estate and parkland on Sunday 18th September. This is a rare chance to hack through over 6 miles of beautiful and normally restricted farmland with cross country jumps for the more experienced rider. The first riders will start at 10 a.m. and the last at 1.30 p.m. You will have the opportunity to request start times when booking.
Refreshments will be available all day and the house and the gardens will be open from 11.00am until 5.00pm. Entry to the gardens is free for riders and their helpers. Usual admission fees apply to explore the house, which was once owned by Jane Austen’s brother (referred to in her letters as ‘the Great House’) and is now home to a collection of early women’s literature. House entry tickets include access to the ‘Emma at 200’ exhibition, celebrating 200 years since the publication of Jane Austen’s Emma, and including extremely rare first editions and manuscript material on loan from institutions around the world.
Fun ride tickets are £15 and include a £2.50 fee for St John Ambulance. Tickets will be available to buy online until Tuesday 13th September at 5.00 pm. After this time, there will be tickets available to buy on the day for £20. Please note that tickets are non-refundable.
Refreshments will be available to buy all day from our tea room in the Old Kitchen and the gardens will be open from 11.00 am to 5.00 pm.
