Hidden Waterways of Winchester 2 - guided walking tour

A chance to follow the Lockburn stream on its journey from the city centre to St Cross.

Join two of Winchester's professional guides for a 2 hour walking tour, starting at Winchester Visitor Information Centre and finishing at St Cross. Participants must make their own way back to Winchester (on foot or there are regular buses). The walk is approximately 1 mile.

This companion tour to Hidden Waterways 1 (10th May & 16th August) focuses on the Lockburn, a waterway created in medieval times as an extension of the city's streams to the south. It was designed to be a drainage system for the Cathedral monastery, Winchester College and the almshouses at St Cross. This walk tells its story and follows its course around the Cathedral Close, past the College and through the water meadows to the Hospital of St Cross. The path to St Cross can be uneven, wet and muddy which makes this tour unsuitable for wheelchairs. Please wear suitable footwear.

Tickets are £12 for adults, £5 for children (under 16) and available in advance through the website or in person on the day at the Visitor Information Centre if still available.
