European Gliding Championships 2017 @ Lasham Airfield

Lasham Gliding society are running this year's European Gliding Competition from Lasham Airfield with 65 competing gliders from all over Europe.

The event is open to the public with it's own restaurant and viewing area from which the competitors can be watched departing on their daily flying tasks. Note that tasks can vary from 100km to 800km or more and so only the take off and landing can be seen at Lasham.

Due to the vagaries of the British weather it can not be guarantee flying will take place every day during the competition, nor can it be sure of the time of the massed take off. If flying its hope to proceed with launching from around 1000, but this can be delayed and/or cancelled altogether if the weather or forecast is not suitable for competitive flying. Massed landings by the competitors will normally take place between 5pm and 7pm, but this time is not guaranteed.

Trial flights (one off trips in a glider) can be booked on-line or in person during a visit.
