About
Hop on over to Winchester Science Centre this spring for the return of Boom & Bloom between Saturday 16th March and Monday 15th April, including every day during the Easter school holidays.
There'll be all the usual Science Centre fun like hands-on exhibits, exciting live demos and minibeast adventures, plus even more to excite children aged five to 12 and their families. Solve the puzzles to earn an Easter treat and find out the difference between rabbits and hares in the Eggs-travaganza Easter Hunt and discover all about the science of a childhood favourite, bubbles, in the fun-filled 20-minute live show, Bubble Trouble - both included free with admission.
We're bubbling over with fun in the Science Theatre! Through a double bubble of exciting experiments and live demos, you'll discover more about the science of bubbles in the fun 20-minute free live show, Bubble Trouble. Find out if we can put a person inside a bubble? Discover the fascinating dry ice bubble phenomenon. And be wowed by the exciting propane bubbles! Don't burst our bubble, add a science show to your visit – it's free with general admission!
Of course, it wouldn't be Easter without an egg hunt. But ours isn't like all the others! Does the Easter rabbit or hare visit your house? Many people don't know the difference between these two species. Join us on a hunt around the Centre to find the rabbits and hares that are visiting us. Explore the differences between our furry friends and solve the puzzles along the way in order to grab yourself a delicious chocolate treat.
In the Planetarium, we'll be blasting off into the Solar System on an epic adventure. In the live presenter-led show, Atmospheres, you'll explore beyond the atmosphere of our planet. Explore other planets and find out what makes them unique. And in subtitled film show, We Are Stars, join the Time Master to find out if we are in fact all made of stars. Discover the secrets of our cosmic chemistry and experience the universe like never before in this fun and colourful character-led film. Please note that Planetarium shows are an additional £4 per ticket.
And don't forget all the other hands-on fun on offer! Discover more about sound, hearing and vibration on the upper floor. Climb inside a giant guitar. Explore the acoustic rocket. And even learn some British Sign Language. On the lower floor blast off on a journey through Explorer:Space. Discover more about what it's like to live and work in space in our interactive space zone. Families can watch as science comes to life through huge 'don't try this at home' demos in Science Live and they won't want to miss out on meeting the minibeasts of the South Downs National Park in Bio:Space. You're never too young or old to learn something new and with so much to do families will make memorable moments together that will be talked about all year.
