1. Visit Southampton’s art galleries
If you are an art lover or enjoy the atmosphere of a gallery, Southampton is home to two art galleries. Southampton City Art Gallery is internationally renowned and is home to one of the best publicly owned collections in the UK outside of London. The John Hansard Gallery is part of the University of Southampton and has a huge collection of contemporary and visual art. 2. See a show at one of Southampton’s theatres
The Mayflower Theatre is Southampton’s oldest theatre and the Mast Mayflower Studios, Nuffield Southampton Theatres are located in the city centre and on the University of Southampton’s campus. The theatres each offer a programme of West End touring shows, internationally acclaimed performers, and famous comedians throughout the year. 3. Find out about Southampton’s Titanic connections
On the 12th April 1912 Titanic left Southampton heading for New York via Cherbourg, France and Queenstown, Ireland. Today you can explore Southampton and it’s Titanic connections by visiting SeaCity Museum discovering the fascinating stories of it’s passengers. SeaCity Museum reveals the city's long established maritime links and is great for all the family. If you want to stretch your legs, walk the Titanic Trail, a self-guided route, which will take you to key locations across the city including the Titanic engineer’s memorial in East Park and the Titanic musician’s memorial in Cumberland Place. 4. Discover the birth place of the Spitfire at Solent Sky Museum
This hidden gem of a museum showcases Southampton’s connection to the famous Spitfire, as well as exploring the history of the development of aviation in the Solent area. Get up close to planes from all eras, adventure inside some of the cockpits and hear stories from the expert guides.

5. Step back in time at Southampton’s Tudor House and Garden
This fascinating building was built in 1495 and is one of Southampton’s most important historic buildings. 6. Explore Southampton with a city expert

8. Visit the Southampton International Boat Show
Each year in September Southampton hosts the world-famous Southampton Boat Show. This huge event attracts visitors from all over the global. Explore the latest in marine technology, look around some of the world’s most expensive super yachts, take to the water and enjoy water sport tasters or enjoy a spot of shopping. This event has something for all ages and all budgets!

9. Cruise around the Solent
Experience the golden age of steam onboard the SS Shieldhall, the largest working steam ship in Britain. A member of the National Historic Fleet, she serves as a sea going tribute to Britain's maritime heritage. Passengers can book on an excursion or visit her in Southampton. SS Shieldhall is also available for private charter or for hire as a venue alongside.
10. Go shopping in Southampton
Southampton is one of the South Coast’s biggest and best shopping destinations and is home to Westquay Shopping centre which has over 100 stylish shops, the Marlands shopping centre, a busy High Street, the only Ikea in the South of England and several larger retail stores such as Decathlon, John Lewis and Marks and Spencer. Spend the day browsing your favourite stores and enjoy coffee, lunch or dinner at some of the many eateries.
