About
A traditional village pub with real fires and a friendly atmosphere, the Selborne Arms is the perfect location to share a meal with family, friends or colleagues. Whether you are organising a walk up the Zig Zag path or along the Hangers Way, or a visit to the galleries or museum, or simply want somewhere to eat out, the Selborne Arms is ideal. The menu offers a range of traditional and innovative dishes which meet this popular venue's high standards and showcase local and homemade produce. In fact awards have been won for the 'Distinctive Local Menu' and 'Dining Pub of the Year'.A warm welcome awaits, whether you prefer the cosy atmosphere of the bars or the more intimate dining room. Super wine lists offer a fantastic choice, with ten wines available by the glass. Five local real ales feature on the bar (seven in summer) and the pub has just been awarded CAMRA's Pub of the Year 2011 (East Hampshire). There is of course a wide selection of soft drinks for the driver, teetotaller or child. A play area in the huge garden is popular with children and parents, and a wishing well barbecue is available for parties in the summer. A covered patio area with TV and dartboard houses heaters and a wood burner to keep you warm all year round. Dogs are welcome on a lead in the garden. It also won the Great British Pub Awards 2010 for the 'Best Creative Outdoor Area' in the South.
Owners, Nick and Hayley Carter (and baby daughter Emily who joined them on 5th February 2011) have been at the pub since January 2011 and have established an excellent reputation for the exquisite food and drink, the friendly welcoming atmosphere and the occasional fun party with live music. They are keen supporters of Hampshire Fare and source the majority of their produce from as close to the doorstep as possible. Meat from local farms, Hill Farm Apple Juice, Mr Whitehead's Ciders, Lyburn's Cheeses, Real Ales from the many superb local micro-breweries, Watercress, Asparagus, Priors Dean Wines and much, much more can all be found on the menus (when in season of course!).
Make sure you check out the annual beer and wine festival, Selborne's "Zig Zag Fest", held at the Selborne Arms and the Village Hall during the first weekend in October.
