Kingfisher Cottage
Burley
Hampshire
About
This adult-only retreat sleeps four lucky guests in a double and twin bedded room on the outskirts of Burley.
You'll find this gem of a naturalists paradise at the end of a remote mile-long drive, overlooking the open forest, woods and streams. Of course, you can pack rucksacks and don walking boots, but there really isn't any need as the famous wild ponies, deer, foxes, and vibrant woodland wildlife comes to you whatever the weather. There's a large lily-filled lake, home to brightly coloured dragonflies, herons, ducks and resplendent flashes of blue from kingfishers. Just imagine sitting in the garden, camera in one hand and a glass of something bubbly in another with Mother Nature as your entertainment.
If you want to explore outside the garden, just pull on your walking boots and meander along the tracks to find wildflower meadows sprinkled with butterflies, watch birds of prey swirling high above and all the amazing wildlife you'd ever hope to find.
Inside the Kingfisher Cottage's red brick façade are walls lined with painted shiplap. Each of the heritage cream and green painted rooms is furnished for comfort and style in equal measures. Besides, the lovely kitchen/diner is a pretty lounge with smart TV, a family bathroom, a double and twin bedroom.
A selection of great eating pubs, restaurants, a village shop for supplies and cycle hire are within an easy 2-mile or so saunter through the woods or quick zip in the car to Burley village.
